Apart from offering courses at the Institute’s campus, off-campus programmes would also be conducted in collaboration with colleges, institutes and other agencies such as Government Departments and NGOs across India. This would help in addressing the capacity building and knowledge dissemination needs effectively to a wider audience. Well established colleges and agencies having training facilities would be identified and strategic tie-ups would be forged with them in order to conduct the off-campus programmes on regular basis. Resource persons of the Institute and external experts would attend the programmes conducted through the off-campus mode. Partner Institutions/agencies for conducting off-campus programmes would be selected based on their capacity & infrastructure available, location of the institute and relevance of the initiative in a region to ensure the quality of the activities and to maximize the outreach of the programme. Off-campus programmes would also strategically aim to support activities of institutes and agencies involved in demonstrating effective models to promote lessons learnt through capacity building initiatives conducted jointly and documentation of good practices from these programmes for wider sharing.
The Institute would establish linkages with National level bodies such as Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission, State Level Water and Sanitation Missions, Government Departments and Training Institutes. Close linkage with NGOs, INGOs and UN organisations would also be taken up to actively promote capacity building initiatives and dissemination of information related to the sector. Necessary approvals for running the courses and for awarding certificates to the participants on successful completion of the courses on behalf of reputed universities would also be taken up.
The Institute would establish tie-ups with International Institutes such as WEDC, University of Surrey, Cranfield, London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in the United Kingdom, WASTE Institute in Norway and IHE/IRC in the Netherlands.
