WASH Institute will be established at Kodaikanal (Kodaikanal
is also known as the princes of mountains) in Dindigul District of Tamilnadu,
India. Since Kodaikanal is situated around 2000 meters above MSL, the
weather is very pleasant round the year. This pleasant and pollution
free environment would offer peaceful learning opportunity to the participants/students.
Kodaikanal being one of the most preferred tourist destination, participants
attending the programmes from various parts of the country and neighboring
nations would have an opportunity to stay and enjoy the nature in the
princess of mountain.
More importantly, the location also offers an opportunity to witness a wide range of development works carried out on various aspects related to water and environment in the region. The region has some of the best innovative works carried out in the areas such as cost effective water and sanitation models both in rural and urban context including ecological sanitation initiatives, watershed and natural resource management, traditional water harvesting practices, environmental and ecological management initiatives. Therefore, locating the institute at Kodaikanal would offer a very special learning experience to the participants attending the programmes and may become a preferred destination for learning among the sector stakeholders. |
