WASH Institute

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute would be a non profit training and development organization dedicated to provide practical solutions to a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. Core activities of WASH Institute would be to undertake training programs to groom water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental professionals and functionaries involved in the sector. Special focus would be given to middle level professionals who are directly involved in managing the programmes on ground. Round the year, WASH Institute would run various formal and non-formal training/academic courses both on short and long-term basis.

The initiative, apart from developing and offering campus based courses, would have tie-ups with national and international agencies in the region to groom middle level professionals and students. Appropriate action research, on field study/experiments, knowledge sharing and advocacy initiates will be undertaken to promote importance of capacity building and influencing other sector players and institutions to replicate these widely.

Training Coordinator

Purpose:

This is an exciting new position with the potential for growth and development. The organization invites applications for the post of Training coordinator. There is a high demand for the training programs hence the role is to conduct training programs supported by government of India, and other organizations around the country.

Design and development of Training / course modules on water supply, sanitation, environmental sanitation and hygiene • Review existing modules at regular intervals to update its content, methodologies, tools etc. and ensuring that these course modules are up to date and meets the requirements of the WASH Institute target groups such as Communities, NGOs/CSOs, Government, INGOs, Private/Corporate, etc..
• Design and Develop modules for new courses of WASH Institute. Develop training curriculum that promotes cost effective methodologies and community based solutions in water sanitation and environmental hygiene.
• Develop necessary power points for the respective topics of the training modules, enhanced with pictures or audio visuals like use of video clips to help better understanding and interesting to the participants.
• Assist to improve WASH Institute data base on climate change impacts on water and sanitation services, also assist in designing basic course module.
2. Coordinate, Conduct and Manage WASH Institute training programs
• Plan, manage and conduct the training activities in co-ordination with the WASH team, based on the objectives, methodology, and evaluate feedback for improving training.
• Develop the training curriculum that promotes cost effective methodologies and community based solutions.
• Ensure the WASH Institute training programs are delivered in high quality. Ensure appropriate training/learning materials are part of the training package.
• When there is a need, hire/engage external resource persons with a prior approval from the management. Maintain data base of such resource personnel.
• Support to conduct of long term courses the organization undertakes.
• Plan and assist in conducting of district, state, national level workshops, Seminars, and conferences of the organization.
3. Documentation, IEC and Publications
• Plan, and assist in developing necessary publications of the organization like case studies, concept notes, training reports, newsletters, brochures and the like, that are required to disseminate or communicate information with quality and standards.
• Support /assist in update the information in WASH Institute website at regular interval.
• Support archiving of training materials
• Assist / help in documentation of WASH works and events,
• Assist other the team in preparing and submission of reports to the donors and consortium partners as and when required.
• Assist in developing necessary publications of the organization like case studies, concept notes, training reports, newsletters, brochures, etc required to dissemination.
4. Networking and Resource Mobilization
• Supporting and developing tie-ups/ network with the INGOS, Government, NGOs and other training institutions within and outside the country to run the training programs of WASH Institute.
• Support WASH Institute in writing/developing concept note, proposal and budget development to mobiles resources for WASH Institute activities.

The knowledge, skills & experience required

• Masters degree from a recognized University in Social Work, Development Studies or a related field.
• More than three years in the field of development and with technical knowledge in water sanitation and hygiene projects.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, facilitation and training skills for delivery of trainings
• Ability to articulate and advocate on water sanitation issues.
• Proven networking and relationship building skills in the Government and development field.
• Excellent computer skills (Windows environment)
• Speaks, reads and writes English fluently; and speaking, reading and writing in Hindi – and/or another Indian language - will be an advantage
• Comfortable working as a member of a culturally diverse team
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and deliver consistently on deadlines.

Travel requirements

Travel to venue of trainings, conferences meetings held outside Kodaikanal

Remuneration

An annual total package of Rs. 360,000/ (cost to the company which includes salary, medical benefits, LTA) will be offered, and the assignment is on yearly contract basis.
